The Policeman’s Coat Hook
Located on Great Newport Street near Leicester Square, The Policeman’s Hook is a small monument with a big history. This story goes that back in1930’s, policemen were in charge of standing on this bustling street to direct the traffic. All the policemen in that time were issued with standard police raincoats, but there was nowhere to store them, so a hook was installed to allow policemen working there to hang their coats on a warm day. Pretty cool bit of history and makes for a great picture.
