An awesome neighbourhood pub that has a real community vibe. Everything is local, from the crowd to the ingredients used to make the food. The meat comes from a local butcher, the veg from Dawn, a green-fingered local who has an allotment next door. The food is pretty good, with most of the food produced fresh on fresh on-site. However, the Monty specialises in seafood, which I’d highly reccomend. If you want to try a British classic, then I’d recommend the fish and chips. However, my ultimate favourite here are the West Mersea Oysters, If seafood doesn’t tickle your fancy, then take a look at the menu to see what other food and drink options there are. However, what makes the Montpelier is the amazing 30 seater cinema they have inside where you can catch a movie.
