Soviet War Memorial

This is an important monument standing at the wondrous square of Liberty. Back in time, the Soviets made an enormous sacrifice in World War II – suffering by far the worst casualties of any army. And they were the ones who liberated Budapest from the Nazi occupiers in the end. Though eventually the Soviets became just as hated as the Germans, this dominating monument pays tribute to the fact that at one point they were viewed as heroes.
