Bermondsey is one of my favourite neighbourhoods in all of London, and I especially like coming here on a Saturday for the Maltby Street market. This vibrant bazaar sit’s beneath a hanging cover of international flags and was once a mecca for punters looking to purchase antiques. Today, it’s mostly a food market, with vendors serving all kinds of cuisines lining the streets serenading you with their food smell. Most of the places are stalls, however there are some permanent venues located under the railway arches. The market is quite small and lesser known than it’s South London counterpart, Borough Market. However, it has recently shot up in popularity so it is pretty packed. I had some amazing carribean food last time I was here, but the vendors rotate, so be sure to check their site for up to date info.
