Lam Anh Pho

If I could only bring one restaurant in all of Budapest with me to a deserted island it would be this one. Zero hesitation, no questions asked. I usually go for lunch and my order is the Beef Pho with coconut water and a Vietnamese coffee. It’s the best pho in town as far as I’m concerned and super cheap. 1,500 forints for an incredible bowl of soup that will fill you up for 5 or 6 hours. Easy. The other dishes are also delicious (try the crispy shrimp as an appetizer before your soup!) but there’s something so simple and satisfying about slurping down a bowl of pho in this no-frills local spot. Family run and the two wizardly chefs in the back must be descended from an ancient race of pho gods from the hills surrounding Halong Bay. I truly, truly love this place.
