Hungarian National Museum

This museum drips with neoclassical elegance and holds a collection that is curated from the history of all of Hungary’s former territories. The permanent exhibit of the museum will take you through the story of the Hungarian people from its prehistory (400.000 BC – 804 AD) and then into the more modern historical record as well. There is also a special section dedicated to the Roman era here as well as a constantly rotating number of special exhibitions. The splendor of the Coronation Mantle – a royal robe like garment dating back to 1031 AD!!! – is a particular highlight. Adult tickets cost for the permanent exhibition is around 2600 HUF, and 4600 for all exhibitions. Totally worth it in my opinion.
