Cast your mind to last January. I was hungover, starving for lunch and wildly meandering down the streets of Budapest like a raving lunatic. Then I found Hachapuri. A few plates of authentic cuisine, two glasses of good kvevri wine and a shot of chacha. Sorted. I ended up travelling through Georgia two months later because of that meal. Try the terrific hand dumplings (khinkali), the khachapuri (think egg, cheese, butter, bread boat heaven) and the flavour bomb Georgian salad. And the wines! The rich, velvety, sumptuous Georgian wines. Oldest wine culture in the world. Didn’t you know? 8,000 damn years. Top, top spot this.
