Építész Pince

A true hidden gem with a beautiful, hidden, ivy-covered courtyard. The building, rather than the food, is the key attraction of this restaurant. It’s located inside a pre-WWI mansion and attracts an eclectic crowd of librarians, architects (today the building is home to the Chamber of Budapest Architects), and local residents. As you head down to Baross utca and hang a left hand turn onto Otpacsirta utca, you’ll find yourself at Építész Pince. It’s in the cosy area of the National Museum, so makes the perfect spot to grab some snacks before or after your museum visit. Take some time to absorb the view from the inner courtyard: ivy-covered facades, cube stone patterns, symmetrically curved staircases. As for food, the prix fixe lunches will neither disappoint, nor take your breath away.
