The Downtown Market Hall has been the centre of commerce in Budapest for over a century with the mission to showcase high quality and fresh products, all locally sourced from Hungarian farms. The first floor is lined with grocers selling fresh produce from their farms, while the second floor is home to vendors selling all kinds of mouth-watering traditional munch. The selection of food on offer is extensive, but I have a few spots that are my staples when I visit. One of my favourites is on Stand 25, a traditional Hungarian eatery. Or if you like a home-style deli, I’d recommend Séf Utcaja. For fish meals go to Vörös Homar, and for an Asian inspired cuisine head to Steamboo. If these don’t tickle your fancy, stroll around the aisles, you’re bound to find something you’ll love.
