Located in an old abandoned factory building tiny street off the Raval, Departure perfectly mashes up two of my favourite things, quality speciality coffee and art. The factory it’s housed in was used to make making wooden doors, and the beautiful antique table at the centre is a reminder of those times. Not only is their coffee is excellent, sourced primarily from local producers, but the walls are decorated with local artworks. The exhibitions changes every month and whenever it does Departure will host a DJ or live musician to celebrate. As a connoisseur of coffee in Barcelona, I have my favourites for each specific type of drink. In Departures case it’s their cold brew which is lovely in all seasons, but especially on a hot summers day.
