Casa Bruno De Cuadras
Built by Bruno Cuadros, this building dates back to the mid 19th Century. The entire ground floor is now a bank but was once an umbrella shop, owned by Bruno Cuadros. Cuadros wanted to redesign the facade of the building and did so with the help of Josep Vilaseca I Casanovas, a renowned architect from Catalonia. With such a big task on his hands, Casanovas started working to create something unique and he did a bloody good job. Incorporating Oriental and Egyptian design elements which were all the rage at the time. Look closer and you’ll see enamelled panels with traditional Japanese paintings, colourful umbrellas which are an ode to the history of the building. He even added a large Chinese animal holding a bamboo lantern. This mashup of cultures on the exterior of the building is truly something to behold.
