Belvárosi Disznótoros

Belvárosi Disznótoros is a very famous place to eat. It is a spot adored by tourists and locals alike for its delectable Hungarian offerings. The name translates to ‘downtown pig feast’ and that’s exactly what you’re getting at this beloved local institution. Even Anthony Bourdain on his visit to Budapest in 2015 stopped by, calling the shop: “A field of dreams, a landscape of braised, fried, and cured delights.” This is a meat lover’s paradise. Juicy pork roast, crispy duck leg, roast duck bread and plump blood sausages steal the show. There are also all sorts of chicken dishes and they have marinated Mangalica pork (a Hungarian speciality) and tons of local garnishes including a whole separate wooden wagon stuffed with pickles. Everything is pretty affordable here and you’ll be paying about 2,000 HUF for the main dish, vegetables and a side.
