The Santa Maria Del Mar is a stunning 14th-century church that is still standing strong having survived so much turmoil. From invasions by Napoleonic forces, earthquakes and devastating fires. The most famous of which came in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War. When anarchists almost burned the church down, with the blackened walls inside a stark reminder of more turbulent times. The restoration of the church was financed by FC Barcelona, who in exchange asked for their coat of arms to be included in the new stain glass windows. With this mega football clubs emblem visible on the foot of some windows on the left-hand side of the altar.
