One of my all-time favorite dinner spots! I love this place because they make you feel right at home, and the food is amazing too. Everything is super fresh and locally sourced. The name Barbounaki is actually a type of fish, the red mullet originating from the Mediterranean.Known for their elegant yet casual seafood. Barbounaki is the sibling of the classic Papaioannou, a Michelin star in Piraeus port. Barbounaki is the cosier, compact, and local sibling, a low-key delicious spot. This is actually one of three locations since it became so widely loved in Glyfada (the spot locals go to vacation in the summer) it moved to two locations in Athens.Try the marinated seabass which is -according to the chef- the Greek equivalent of sushi! And of course, its signature dish from which the restaurant takes its name after the red mullet, grilled octopus, sea urchin salad, marinated anchovies.
