The Acropolis is a place that everyone is always raving about, and it’s not surprising. Inside this wonderful complex are some seriously spectacular buildings, including the Parthenon. If you’ve seen all the sites at the Acropolis but are excited to learn more, than this spot is perfect. The idea for the Acropolis museum was conceived in 1976 by Constantinos Karamanlis. The goal is simple, to help with the preservation of historical artefacts from Acropolis, a lot of which were lost after the extreme damage that it has endured over the years. The museum is full of so many amazing pieces from the nearby Acropolis. One of my favourites is actually an ancient frieze which was part of the Parthenon, depicting three gods, Poseidon, Apollo and Artemis. Aside from this, there are many more amazing pieces inside to see, so head inside and see what hidden gems you can uncover. The entrance fee is 20 euros, but included in that price is access to other amazing sites nearby.
